Who is Apprentice James?

[Last updated February 3rd.]

Some religious nut? The opposite. Unless you consider a serious student of einstein, or a great athlete, or a great business person... a religious nut. After a lifelong search I discovered that all of my answers are found in one historical figure, Gospel jesus, Matthew Mark Luke and john. I don't prefer that. I discovered it. When I discover differently, I'll find a different Rock to stand on, but for now that's it, for the last 5 years, for the last 25 years, that's it. If you want to know what I stand for, and or if I'm a hypocrite, compare me to Matthew Mark Luke and john.

Immediate concerns as a citizen, which would continue if you put me on City council:

[My soul awakened me this morning to begin thinking about what I need to tell City Council a week from today, the 10th of February. I am circulating it to various people whose judgment and experience in Cortez I respect, for their input, and the following will be adjusted as I Ponder what input I receive. This including the introduction is what I have sent to some sounding boards. ]

Quick summary:

City Councilors:

1. We need visionary courageous leadership now. Tell us how to work with you so that despite all the odds we are financially viable three years from now.

2. We're a ghost town unless we get out of the poverty perpetuation and monetization business, and start bridging people to prosperity. Please tell us your detailed plan for making that happen. Including what we need to do.

3. Meeting after meeting this chamber is empty of citizens. We need a much more vibrant community engagement than that. Please tell us your plan for making that a reality, including what you need we citizens to do.

Thank you, James McGinley

Trusted Sounding Board, if I'm asking too much of you must let me know. That's not my intent. You've been a rock for me, a sounding board, and I'm wondering if you'll give me your thoughts on the following. Especially if you think it is unhelpful, unconstructive, inappropriate. Thanks, James.....

James mcginley, 111 South Elm street, Master Jesus base camp.

Our city counselors,

With the following, please bear in mind, in the last 5 months I have been before you five times and received no constructive follow-up. That's Not a criticism. A fact. Similarly, my multiple emails to you all have gone without reply.

Our City counselors,

Please tell us, I say us because many of my fellow citizens have these questions, please tell us in a followup, the following:

1. What is your detailed 3-year financial plan that keeps Cortez solvent and thriving while three main industries continue in Decline, National and Global Financial indicators are headed toward disaster, AI is heading us toward 20% unemployment by decade end, and we in Cortez , Montezuma county, are past the research-based Tipping points for economic viability, 60% child poverty when only 40% is considered sustainable, 35% of our population a combination of materially impoverished, and/or senior.

2. What is your plan for leading the institutions and citizens in the city to immediately implement the best practices for bridging our citizens from economic poverty toward prosperity as dozens or hundreds of communities around the country are doing, as documented, instructed, and explained in the dozens of books now in our library? And in addition to your leadership, with our funds you  expend in our courts, in such organizations as pinion project, what is your plan to urgently get such entities to employ best practices that we are no longer perpetuating and monetizing poverty in our city, but we are moving people out of it?

3. We can all notice that meeting after meeting after meeting there are anywhere between zero and one or two citizens speaking to you, where there could be 10 or more. Do you think that's because, as they tell me, they know that you won't listen? They know that you won't follow up? They know that you won't care? Please tell us your plans for moving us toward a more constructively engaged Community with you.

In closing, with all this I am not trying to feed into the epidemic I find in Cortez and Montezuma county. The "they" disease. My fellow citizens are concerned about such issues as the above. I have yet to have a fellow citizen say, what are "we" going to do about it. Never. Always, what are they going to do, will they listen, etc.

There is no they. There is only us. We. The buck stops with us. But you have an opportunity, a duty, to lead us, to look out ahead, to tell us what you see, and what you need us to do. If you stand up and give us visionary leadership now, you just might give us a future worth living.

Thank you, James McGinley

What else about James? [Everything on this site will be developing throughout february. Check back regularly.]

The senior Church trustee this week said james, you're the joyful Jeremiah. As Warren Buffett is called the oracle, it's probably not inappropriate he called me a prophet. Advanced technology Executives in Silicon Valley considered me that. My track record in high tech suggested I am. My stands including near-death hunger strikes 10 years ago against the destruction of our Colorado environment, against the unfolding genocide in palestine... are some of What suggests that I see things in the future that people don't bother to see. They could. They're not interested. I am.

I did my masters in elementary school / Addiction Counseling in 1999. Got my MBA from Syracuse University in marketing in 1977. Spent 27 years as an executive in high tech, new business development, new product development, turning around failing organizations, starting up new ones, for 27 years.

Lacking any tolerance for idle conversation in a world with so much needless suffering, I couldn't get by on pleasantries, so I became really really focused and good at what I did. And that continues. I have an appetite for it and apparently an aptitude.

As the CEO in salt lake, whose company I was rescuing for him said, james, I've studied you, you reinvent yourself every couple of years. He was right. I can't resist trying to make myself part of the solution to unsolvable problems.

As the VP that had worked with me, to turn around a large failing National Organization said to me in an airport, james, do you know what you did that saved us? I thought about all the things I had done. He said, you turned us into a national family, from a bunch of people in silos. He was right.

Etc.

Other preliminary introductory comments:

50 years I've devoted myself to the practice of human development that individuals, organizations, communities would fully thrive. Always practicing first on myself. I've had some success.

The first half of that was in the corporate world.

Several years in Washington DC I was active and widely respected in working on issues of homelessness at the executive level.

After 10 years traveling the country in the Solar vehicle working to raise our humanity, unexpectedly Cortez said, no more traveling james. This is where your work is now.

The first 12 months was with our unhoused population, trying to help a soul here or there. What tha taught me is that being unhoused is a symptom of an unnecessary poverty of spirit in any community. That the only solution is in bringing the souls throughout the community at all economic strata to full joyfulness, full health. Again, I did that repeatedly in the corporate world, High tech. Infinitely more important to do it in cortez, Montezuma county.

When 6 or 8 weeks ago it had become clear to me that lack of community vibrancy, including economic, was the problem, I turned my attention to learning what is known there. Dozens of books have now been donated to the library which I am studying and more.

This irrespective of being on the ballot for City council. But the vision that I am gaining of what others have done, and what is possible to do here, is growing in me rapidly through this study on going, and the vision will be articulated at this site as I learn, fairly rapidly I think.

I was distracted for a long time from the true opportunity represented by this body of work under the title Bridges out of poverty. I can understand why they selected the name but what it's about is bridging individuals and communities to prosperity. Financial being one aspect of prosperity, but not the major one. Spiritual, intellectual, social, cultural, you know, the stuff that gospel Jesus focuses us on. And thank god, it finally started sinking in with me 25 years ago, and then really intensively the last 5 years. The wealth of joy is infinitely beyond all the time I wasted pursuing the pleasures of doing it man's way. Such a waste.

If what is shared on this site as it unfolds is other than a catalyst for my fellow residents of cortez, the vision will be stillborn. But if what is shared here is seeds that we, we, begin to discover and work for a mutual vision, it could spell a joyful bright future for cortez.

.......
HOW CITIES HAVE SAVED THEMSELVES.   (pretty much all of these were donated to the library several weeks ago.)

What drove me to discover these materials was feeling exactly what the words above expressed. My nervous system works that way. It senses things long before I have the words to more fully grasp.
