Update. James will not be running for City council, but will be on the ballot to vote for. And if citizens get me elected, I will devote myself to fulfilling the duties of the office and more. With all my soul.
This was an unexpected update I received from my soul when it woke me up in the middle of the night. Smh. New instructions.
It was an unexpected resolution to a quandary. We are dying by the notion of spectator politics. Putting a gladiator in the ring thinking that's going to change anything. It's entertainment. While the time runs out to save ourselves.
I can't feed into that.
But barring anything unforeseen, my name is on the ballot, about 40 people quickly and eagerly signed a petition which I was told is approved.
So, james, my soul inquired of me, what is gained by withdrawing by the second of February as you had expected to do when no folks showed up alongside you to fight for this vision of a massively vitalized Cortez? Well, nothing?
How useful to have my name hanging out there for the next couple of months that people have several months to ponder, to dabble in, if they want to have a core of us come alongside, to have us join, in a collective vision to make Cortez the city on the hill that a man tried to birth 2,000 years ago.
Then, sometime in april, the residents in our city will have a chance to choose in a small way, whether they want to make this city even greater, or whether they're fine with just how it is.
This update from my soul in the middle of the night, totally unexpected. That's par for the course for my soul.
And if the citizens of Cortez have done the work between now and then, to get me elected, I will devote myself to fulfilling the duties of that office, and more.
Ps. And my humiliation when no one works alongside, votes for James for cortez? No humiliation. There's no change for me either way. Either way every waking breath I'm working for cortez, to be the beacon of light for the country and the world. The city on the hill. The city blazing with the Divine Joy of true community. The Divine culture that Gospel Jesus lived and died for. Me too. Making ourselves each, into bridges toward prosperity for all, especially the least of these, for the irresistible Joy of it. Yes, I can dream, I can. I'll be working for that till they put me in a pine box, well, scatter my ashes, turn me into fertilizer for a tree. It's up to the people of Cortez whether they put me on the council, not me. Not my business.
Pps. If anyone wants to work on this, you will let me know.
