Video. City Council 3/10, CORTEZ IS DYING. DENIAL... is the diseae that is killing us.
CORTEZ IS DYING.
DENIAL... is the diseaese that is killing us.
My city, infinitely more important my community that I love in cortez, is dying. And we are so beaten down, we have been ill so long, we forgotten what it means to wake up.
We've lost all notion that the truth will prevail in the end, not our delusions, not our wishes, not our fantasies, the cold hard truth.
And we can't even remember the Supreme infinite Joy of facing the truth, grappling with the truth, wrestling with the truth, as those that built this city thrived on.
Soon, I will stop trying to pound on our chest and bring our heart back to life. I am acutely aware of boundaries, but I'm going to go right up to them and stay right up to them for a little while longer. Then I'll stop.
I'm very concerned about offending the League of Women Voters community tonight. Because I will not Aid and a bet are insane denial of this business as usual insanity, and enable our sleep walk to oblivion.
The Titanic analogy falls apart because it suggests it was binary. It was no longer possible to float it again. I can't accept that about Cortez yet. It may have been too late 10 years ago, literally. The research would say so. But I can't accept that.
However, more importantly the Titanic analogy does hold because even once it hit the iceberg, it was not going to be floated again, some people as we can see in the movie decided to flourish anyway, by finding themselves in solidarity with those suffering more than them, they forgot their own lives, and had the infinite Joy of devoting themselves to the well-being of another. The only one that can take that opportunity away from us, is ourselves. And so far we're succeeding in doing so.
And not everyone is dying. The political ruling class in this city they're not dying. Like parasites, unwittingly I think, but like parasites, they have Escape plans, they have the resources to escape. When they have sucked the last bit of blood out of Cortez and the non-politically elite citizens, they'll be fine.
They will hate themselves. They will die hating themselves. What a wretched way to go. But materially they'll be fine. Want to use scribes and pharisees, hypocrites. You are like Whited mausoleums. Indeed you are beautiful on the outside, but inside you are full of Dead Man's Bones and all uncleanness. So sad.

City council:
James here. The following is in your packet and at the facebook group People for a Thriving, Prospering Cortez. My dozen earlier attempts to gain your respectful cooperation make it clear that I don't like to be harsh. But by contemptuously ignoring those you’ve left me the choice between abandoning my desperate concerns for our community, or being much more direct with you.
All of the following is to empower the next Council to instantly get on with solving the hellish financial situation you are leaving us in.
The following 6 questions are on behalf of 96% of the citizens I have randomly met in cortez, going door to door fighting to get a future for this city front and center on the council agenda, forevermore.
We demand immediate thorough reply. No more contemptuous silence, and wasted time.
1. If you have a high confidence, approximately 3-year plan to replace our rapidly declining revenues with other than skyrocketing taxes, tell us what it is in detail. Now.
2. If it is by Statute or law you treat we citizens with unending contempt, tell us that statute or law. Otherwise we assume the next council could choose to treat us like valued people. You know, like the manager at Walmart does.
3. By Statute or law is the city council truly the bosses of the city as we've been told by you and the city manager?
4. Or if, as your behavior would suggest, the city counselors are merely political distraction, shield for the true king, the city manager, is that by law or statute? Or could the next Council choose to be in truth, the proactive, accountable, leaders, servants of the city?
5. Is there law or statute that prevents the next Council using Sunshine Law compliant means, to meet not 6 hours a month, but 40 hours a week? A Girl Scout can't run her cookie business on 6 hours a month.
6. If the city manager is the true king, then is there law or statute that would prevent the incoming city council from becoming an aggressive respectful responsive citizen conduit to the king, holding the king accountable to the citizens?
All my time in the city I thought it was just me and the unhoused that were treated like cattle, with contempt. Now to my shock and horror I find it's 95% of , everyone not in your club of our ruling elites. This must change.
It is the council's sacred privilege to serve all in our community, especially those not in your club, every breath, for the Exquisite Joy of it.
I trust that the next council is listening. If that's not what you on the ballot will do, don't take the job. 9,000 lives, in iceberg infested water, will be in your hands.
If I'm wrong, explain it to my face. Otherwise, let's get on with the divinely joyful work of building a future for all in this city.

......
A very constructive member of your Cortez political Club compassionately counseled me about my tone of late. All my time in the city I thought it was just me and the unhoused you all were treating like we are your cattle. Now I find out it's the 95% of us not in your club. We are not cattle to be ruled over by your club. We are your fellow citizens that are to be served by the council. I trust that the next counsel is listening.
The complete dialogue with this individual is in your handout, at the Facebook group people for a thriving prosperous Cortez.
........
And this input just in from an extremely senior individual in the political system historically within Cortez:
James,
Your negativity is off putting to some people. You might want to adjust the tone to have more appeal. Trust them to do the right thing to build up the community. They know the situation is dire. They might relish encouragement to show up and to appeal to the basic goodness that we are capable of. Jesus spoke in parables to make his point.
Respectfully,
Peter
James:
Taken very respectfully peter. There is nothing in my 50 years as a change agent in high-stakes situations that suggests that you're correct. That does not mean that you're not. But I am not doing what I am doing by accident.
I am not being harsh deliberately. I'm speaking the truth after having the truth treated with absolute contempt 6 months now by the council, and forever according to the lifetime residents that I speak with. And that doesn't really matter.
Peter, 95% of the people that I have met in Cortez are in complete agreement with my words and my tone. With everything that I'm saying.
I absolutely disagree that I am speaking or acting in any way with negativity. What might strike people that way is I am not on my knees begging, or as an inferior as others do. I am not speaking as though I do not see the contempt with which citizen concerns have been treated by the council, pretty much forever according to every long-term citizen I've spoken with. That is not negativity.
I very much appreciate your input.
I acknowledge that I'm taking a very very different approach than you counsel.
One or both of us may learn from the results.
And peter, I couldn't give a fig if I make it on the council. I couldn't give a fig if I'm popular. As I've said from the beginning not a fig.
100% of what I want, 100% of what I care about, I want our future first and foremost on the agenda. Not, what size gravel we put on our roads.
If my actions and Behavior now burns every potential bridge I could ever have in this city. It doesn't matter. It matters that our future gets front and center everyday for the coming years on the agenda.
And peter, if speaking and standing on the truth unvarnished, I'm burning bridges, those are not people that care about the truth. They're my brothers and sisters, I love them. But they don't care about the truth. They care about their personal political concerns. That's a fact.
And peter, I am beyond delighted that you brought gospel Jesus into the conversation. As I think of it, I cannot think of one instance, not one, when Jesus was addressing the religious or governmental establishment, that he wasn't harsh as hell. He never once ever cared about being popular with them or with anyone. He cared about being popular with his father, the truth. Entirely because, he cared about the well-being of all the people, and that can only come about when the truth reigns. God's truth, not mine or yours. Me too.
By that comparison if I am to be criticized, and I am, it is that 12 times now approximately, six times in person, six times in writing in emails, I have been as polite and cow-towing and gentle as possible. All to zero avail. Not one response. Not ever. Unless the two times at City Hall, when the city manager rudely sandbaged me with b*******. Not one response.
Never did Jesus speak other than the truth harshly to the establishment, and then there was that time that he flipped over their tables. I don't see myself doing that, ever.
In fact, after I'm humiliated in the election, I'm done. I'm done at a Citywide attempt delete the city to save itself. To continue on would be to enable City council, and to enable my fellow citizens. I'll not do that.
I'll devote myself to trying to save a living beating Soul here or there.
