Political sound bites didn't get John Glenn into space, didn't build Cortez. And anyone that doesn't tell you that, doesn't understand, is trying to get your vote, or both. They are not trying to get Cortez the future of the kind of thriving and prospering that we decide we want.

Would we want it any other way? Come on cortez, let's roll up our sleeves, and raise not a barn, but a future for our city and for our fellow citizens of Cortez. 

Can you imagine anything more joyful then putting our heart and soul into the work? I can't.

We had a frightening future, those Americans of that time. Someone had just beaten us into space, and that was terrifying. 

But they didn't turn away from the challenge, they turned toward it. Despite not knowing what to do. Despite the naysayers keeping themselves on the sideline, waiting for someone to show them how, waiting for someone to do it for them, to tell them what to do. 

No one gave them extra pay to figure it out. They were told, if you don't want to do the work, you are respected. But if you do, you need to call your partners and tell them they're not going to see you for a while. They called their partners. 

It's time to work Cortez. Let's raise the future for Cortez.

No? I was in possibly the largest store in Cortez besides walmart. Seeing the store manager, he knew of me being on the ballot for City council. I told him the truth. I don't want to be on City council, but more than that I want us to have the best possible future and we're all going to have to do stuff that we don't find pleasurable for that to happen.

But I went on, sir, your huge store here in cortez, please, if you can tell me that your revenue streams are just fine... he didn't laugh at me, but he laughed and didn't let me go on. Every store I've talked to their revenues are down 30%. And these are the good times. No one's going to hand us the revenues we used to have. We're going to have to go after them, the types of revenue streams that we want. 

Or we're going to finish crumbling in place.
