This is so typical of the few encounters I've had with senior (non-staff) people in the city. Defensiveness. Hurt. Feeling abused. Wtheck? 

I'm not guilty of any of that. I will never be guilty of any of reasonably inflcting any ot that. Or if I am truly guilty of that I should be condemned widely, because deliberately or reasonably inflicting that is abuse. Intolerable. 

I'm never responsible for other's careless listening, projection, etc. Or for deliberate misunderstanding or mischaracterization of what I said, a form of sandbagging that is all too present in dialogue with the ruling powers and cortez. Lose the habit. Get rid of it. Stop it.

What I am guilty of, and will continue to be guilty of is, finding the personal courage to face harsh truths, to speak harsh truths as constructively as I can, inviting the criticism to come on me, for misunderstanding, for being dense, for being clueless. Which I'm not, but I could be.

City council and the city manager have 9,000 people depending upon them and their decisions and their transparency and they're empowerment of all citizens by being forthcoming with truth, especially the harsh truth. 

It is surely the duty with or without sunshine laws, that the city management fully and completely empowers the citizenry with the truths, especially the harsh truths, in ways that can easily be understood. In a very timely way. 

These are the big leagues. No one that doesn't have the humanity to take responsibility and all that entails for the lives of our 9,000 fellow citizens, should not be anywhere near city council or the city manager position. They should either step up, and we're all capable of it, or step aside.

I will no longer be walking on eggshells. I will never be inconsiderate or abusive. But I will speak the truth as constructively I see it, assuming that that is exactly what senior people in the city government and the city council wants. And if they don't. They need to step up or step aside.

And I need nothing less from anybody. I thrive on the truth, especially the harsh truth, spoken in a timely constructive fashion. The breakfast of champions.

Houston, we've got a problem. Cortez. Status report.

My fellow citizens of cortez, we've got to start talking to each other, we've got to start talking with, not at, the staff at City hall, the city council. City council, you've got to go to a wartime footing and stay there. A war against? A war for a thriving future for cortez.  We don't have any time to stay in our silos and sitting on the sidelines, on our couches, watching TV. We're in a crisis. Chinese characters for crisis are, an opportunity riding a dangerous wind. I'm worried to death for this town. I'm going to fight for it. You?

No moon? No binoculars to the lookouts? Calm sea so there were no waves bouncing off of the icebergs to make them more visible. Normal speed. Known ice field. REPORTS OF ICEBERGS....  Obviously it didn't seem insane. Although we don't know that for sure. Imagine on this luxurious wonderful environment, it was a boat, we're cortez, that someone raised the concern? Do you think anyone will listen to? We know what happened next.
